Hi all, my name is Lewis Terry. I am a freelance artist and teacher who started out doing oil paintings. However, there is not enough room to keep a huge amount of oil paintings in my pokey little flat, so I decided to adapt my oil painting/impressionistic style into digital paintings. Blurry up close, take a step back and these pieces look clear, often quite realistic, and "like a photograph" (so I can understand why some people mistaken them!).
How do I do them?
A lot of the time at conventions or online people ask how I make these pieces. People often mistake them for photoshopped photographs, but they're really not!
I often start sketching out the picture traditionally in my sketchbook, then use Manga Studios to colour it in once scanned into my computer.
